(WINTER '20) Sing, Strum, and Jam! 6-Week February-March 2020 Class with Leela Grace
Sundays 5:00-6:15pm, February 9-March 22, 2020 (no class March 8).
(Scroll down to register!)
This class is for anyone who plays a chording/accompanying instrument (such as banjo, ukulele, guitar, or mandolin), loves to sing, and wants to learn to play well with others! We will be exploring how to bring a song to a musical gathering and have fun following other musicians "on the fly." You'll learn the basics of how to choose a good song for a jam, how to learn and lead it, and how to communicate with other musicians. There will be some focus on how to accommodate other instruments in a jam, how to choose the best key for your voice, how to listen for chord changes, and much more! We'll also cover some of the "customs" of different types of jams, from folk to bluegrass to singer-songwriter to old time... And, of course, we'll mostly do a lot of singing and playing together! If you have taken the class previously, please join in again! We'll be learning a mixture of new songs and old favorites. Questions? Do you play an instrument not mentioned above and wonder if it would be welcome? Send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
