With a patient, light-hearted approach, Leela will help you discover the power of voices raised in harmony. Through large and small group singing, we will practice the fundamentals of three-part harmony using by-ear techniques. You don’t need any harmonizing or singing experience to join this class. The class offers introductory “functional theory” on singing and harmonizing and then we put that understanding into practice by learning a song by ear each week. Every singer learns the melody and two harmony parts for each song — utilizing a “call and response” method. We learn to understand harmonies and how they work by SINGING songs from Appalachian old time to contemporary folk to old country. Build your confidence, strengthen your voice, meet people who love to sing, and have FUN! All abilities and experience levels are welcome. Come explore the possibilities! Making music makes your life better, regardless of “talent.” Note: If you were part of the November Harmony I class, please join back in -- we'll be singing different songs!
